In her Dayton Philharmonic debut, Aleksandra Kasman, a 2019-20 Young Artist in Residence of NPR’s “Performance Today,” solos in Rachmaninoff’s Third Piano Concerto, which has thrilled audiences for more than a century with its titanic technical demands. Its quiet start leads into an amazing unleashing of notes (some 30,000 in all!) and hurtles to a jaw-dropping conclusion. In addition, the orchestra will perform Strauss’s Till Eulenspiegel’s Merry Pranks and Shostakovich’s Symphony No. 9.

COME FROM AWAY is a Best Musical winner all across North America!  It’s based on the true story of 7000 passengers from 38 planes that were diverted to the community of Gander, Newfoundland on September 11, 2001. Culture clashes and language barriers soon dissolved as the people of Gander welcomed the travelers with the universally understood gifts of music, provisions, and friendship. Directed by this year’s Tony®-winning Best Director Christopher Ashley and written by Tony® nominees Irene Sankoff and David Hein, Newsweek tells readers, “It takes you to a place you never want to leave!”

Alan Parsons Live Project

Dayton Live Presents:

Tuesday, April 26, 2022 @ 7:30 PM EDT

Schuster Performing Arts Center, 1 W 2nd St, Dayton, OH 45402

Alan Parsons, the Grammy Award-winning legendary music icon, began dabbling with live performance in his late teens as a folk/blues acoustic player. But as soon as he went to work at the famous Abbey Road Studios at age 19, his career as a hugely successful recording engineer and producer began to pick up speed. The Alan Parsons Project was formed in 1975 when Alan joined forces with Eric Woolfson, and eventually they launched a string of hit albums under Clive Davis’ Arista label:  I Robot (1977), Pyramid (1978), The Turn of a Friendly Card (1980), Eye in the Sky (1982), Ammonia Avenue (1984), Vulture Culture (1985), Stereotomy (1986), and Gaudi (1987).
