In her Dayton Philharmonic debut, Aleksandra Kasman, a 2019-20 Young Artist in Residence of NPR’s “Performance Today,” solos in Rachmaninoff’s Third Piano Concerto, which has thrilled audiences for more than a century with its titanic technical demands. Its quiet start leads into an amazing unleashing of notes (some 30,000 in all!) and hurtles to a jaw-dropping conclusion. In addition, the orchestra will perform Strauss’s Till Eulenspiegel’s Merry Pranks and Shostakovich’s Symphony No. 9.

55th ORRRC MARATHON & 33rd HALF MARATHON

The Ohio River Road Runners Club will be holding their 55th ORRRC Marathon and 33rd Half Marathon, as well as the RRCA State Championship Half Marathon, with a strict cut-off of 6 hours for both distances.  Runners/walkers must be able to finish by 2:00 p.m., and be through the last aid station by 1:35 p.m.  Participants not able to complete the course in time will be driven back to the Xenia YMCA.  No early starts; no late starts.  All participants must be on the start line at 8:00 a.m.

Alan Parsons, the Grammy Award-winning legendary music icon, began dabbling with live performance in his late teens as a folk/blues acoustic player. But as soon as he went to work at the famous Abbey Road Studios at age 19, his career as a hugely successful recording engineer and producer began to pick up speed. The Alan Parsons Project was formed in 1975 when Alan joined forces with Eric Woolfson, and eventually they launched a string of hit albums under Clive Davis’ Arista label:  I Robot (1977), Pyramid (1978), The Turn of a Friendly Card (1980), Eye in the Sky (1982), Ammonia Avenue (1984), Vulture Culture (1985), Stereotomy (1986), and Gaudi (1987).
